Symphony In C Minor (1863-64) 是 葛利格 21歲寫的，也是現存唯一的交響曲。由於他不甚滿意，就抽回總譜並宣佈永遠不准演出。1980年左右有人將手稿照像偷渡到蘇聯去，接著本唱片就是 1981年【 世界首錄】。過程有如諜報電影在當年轟動一時，也造成唱片熱賣。
實際聆聽得知，這是 Grieg 年輕時作品一邊受德奧作家 ( 如 貝多芬 ..等人 )影響而自已的挪威民族音樂風格仍未完全成形顯得有些左右不定，老實説不算是件最好的曲子，不過仍是值得一聽。Karsten Andersen 對於自家挪威作品最為專長，他己盡力把曲中美麗動人的部份全數掘出了。Symphony In C Minor 如今也流行起來， Neeme Järvi ( DG 471 300-2 , 6 CD )的 Grieg 全集也収錄其中。

Karsten Anker Andersen (16 February 1920 – 15 December 1997) was a Norwegian conductor.
Grieg remains the most known Norwegian composer and mainly for rather short pieces (the incidental music for Peer Gynt, the Lyric Pieces for solo piano or the Holberg suite for instance). Together with his famous Violin or Piano Concertos, this Symphony shows any aspect of his compositions. Nice to hear this beautiful version as this work is unfortunately seldom performed.
