這是 李查 . 史特勞斯 完成 這首 Duet concertino for clarinet and bassoon 二重小協奏曲 時寫給老友 Hugo Burghauser 信中的一段玩笑話。 Duet concertino 寫作時都詢問曾任維也納愛樂 巴松管首席 Hugo Burghauser 的意見，這首也是他最後的作品。有別於 以往長大規模的曲子，反像巴洛克風格的嬉遊曲調顯得簡單親切，這是希望向他心愛的莫扎特表達敬意。巴松管 可視為晚年澄明心境，狂野終將歸於平靜為公主馴服。李查 . 史特勞斯 曾形容 巴松管 是「人們不禁聽到老人的聲音，哼著他年輕時最喜愛的旋律」，人之將亡，其言也善。
二重小協奏曲 錄音不少，有些唱片強調 此曲 熊和小公主的童話，乾脆命名為 "Beauty And The Beast " ( Amati – SRR 9205/1，CD )，首選仍是Kempe 肯培在 EMI的大全集 ( EMI SLS 5067 4LP，The complete concerto Vol.4 ) 就有收錄，算是李查 . 史特勞斯 完備收藏，。本唱片清鬆演奏令人領受著這平靜的美好也值得推廌，編號 ( CTL 7007 LP ) 是 Capitol 英版。
