Furtwangler /  Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra

如果來票選最偉大的指揮家，大概 Furtwangler 會當選。翻看他的錄音目錄其實不多 ( 有人統計說是 481種 )且曲子也常重複，歌劇更伸手指數就夠。儘管年代久遠 Furtwangler 迷 還是有增無減，要說明他的特質寫本書都不夠，但簡約來說就是即興又宏偉。Furtwangler 是百變的，他的指揮生涯中從沒有不變的演出，每次的臨埸就是新的創作，這也逼得樂團只得全神應對。

我們總是會被他的雄辯所撼動，儘管如此有些錄音還是難免心中有些存疑。舉例說舒伯特 交響曲 NO.9 "偉大 " ( DG 2535 808 ,1952年 LP )從莊重法國號開頭到了狂喜的結尾集結了巨大的能量真是震撼，但從第一樂章無比壯麗到第二樂章卻呈現憂鬱轉折還是隱隱感到變化幅度過大。而更過火是貝多芬交響曲 NO. ６ ( EMI -DACAPO 1C 047 -00 807，1953年  WIDESOUND STEREO LP )明明是風和日麗春郊踏靑，Furtwangler硬是搞到愁雲慘霧，這是最異色的”田園”。

本唱片卻完全沒有疑問，舒曼 : 交響曲 NO. 4 被譽為 Furtwangler 代表作，一開章就是正拳攻擊，雄魄的管絃迎面而來，這是王者之聲，長久以來從無對手。而海頓交響曲本來Furtwangler　就不多且珍貴，除了些錄音品質不良現場收音外，正式錄音就以交響曲NO. 96 驚愕 ( EMI 1951年 )，和本唱片 NO. 88 " V字 " 。 不可諱言 " V字 "  得面對 如托斯卡尼尼 ( RCA )，貝姆 ( DG )，伯恩斯坦 ( DG )..等強敵，但 Furtwangler 指揮仍是獨道，光慢板樂章聲音豐厚蘊含的堅韌力道確為無人可及。

這是張被評『 日本名曲500第一名 』兼『企鵝三星戴花』的名作，如今著名片廠 Optimal採 180 g 複刻重發，同時保留原始封面是很有收藏價值。

Symphony In C Minor (1863-64) 是  葛利格  21歲寫的，也是現存唯一的交響曲。由於他不甚滿意，就抽回總譜並宣佈永遠不准演出。1980年左右有人將手稿照像偷渡到蘇聯去，接著本唱片就是 1981年【 世界首錄】。過程有如諜報電影在當年轟動一時，也造成唱片熱賣。

實際聆聽得知，這是 Grieg 年輕時作品一邊受德奧作家 ( 如 貝多芬 ..等人 )影響而自已的挪威民族音樂風格仍未完全成形顯得有些左右不定，老實説不算是件最好的曲子，不過仍是值得一聽。Karsten Andersen 對於自家挪威作品最為專長，他己盡力把曲中美麗動人的部份全數掘出了。Symphony In C Minor 如今也流行起來， Neeme Järvi  ( DG 471 300-2 , 6 CD )的 Grieg  全集也収錄其中。

Robert Stolz 是奥國輕歌劇，圓舞曲最後一位作曲家，這張是他改編  枈可夫斯基 & 奧森巴哈 的名曲串成幻想曲。有奌像 HOOKED ON CLASSIC 的味道真的輕鬆好聽。原先是 2片 10吋 LP，如今合成一片 12吋更是值得。

在導演 Christopher Nolan 的電影 Interstellar ( 星際效應 ) 中，有首詩多次在劇中穿場。尤其是由 Michael Caine 飾演的布蘭德教授一唸再唸的這詩 Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night ( 別溫馴地步入美好的夜 ) 表明了人類面臨環境崩壞時應勇敢應對不得荀安的心態令人動容。此詩就是英國早逝詩人 Dylan Thomas 最著名的一首詩。最近 BBC 為了記念Daniel Jones : Symphony No. 4 (In Memory Of Dylan Thomas)  創作 60 週年誌於 30 Oct 2014 由指揮家 Grant Llewellyn 進行公演。


本唱片即是他的朋友 Daniel Jones 為回憶他所寫的 Symphony No. 4 (In Memory Of Dylan Thomas) 。這録音原先是 EMI ( ADS 2855 )發行，最近 CD 則轉為 LYRITA  公司 ( SRCD.329 )，是目前可尋得的孤本。以演奏而言，典型英式風格的交響曲是頗值得一聽。但别太寄於厚望，還是没有那種一曲入魂的旋律。説明白點，您大概短期間不會有再聽的慾望。而 NO. 7 就成熟多了是更好的作品。

錄音方面是由 EMI 的王牌 (  Producer – Christopher Bishop，Engineer – Stuart Eltham )，他們和指揮 Sir Charles Groves 制作英國作品和西貝流士一系列錄音 是 TAS 的常勝軍。素質當然好。

Dylan Marlais Thomas (27 October 1914 – 9 November 1953) was a Welsh poet and writer, whose works include the poems "Do not go gentle into that good night" and "And death shall have no dominion"; the 'play for voices' Under Milk Wood; and stories and radio broadcasts such as A Child's Christmas in Wales and Portrait of the Artist as a Young Dog. He became widely popular in his lifetime, and remained so after his premature death at the age of 39 in New York City, but had by then acquired a reputation, which he encouraged, as a "roistering, drunken and doomed poet

Jalas 是 Sibelius 的親女婿，有此關係他專注 Sibelius 作品的推廣是理所當然。除了後來在 DECCA 公司的錄音也陸續發出 CD 外，早期在 REMINGTON 的錄音現已少見，值得介紹一番。

本唱片最精彩部份是笫三樂章所謂的 " swan calls  " 高潮，他没有 1987年Bernstein 就在 DG與 維也納愛樂 錄音那麼煸動， 強勁有力驅使維也納愛樂使音符之間充滿著血氣之勇，聽來汗毛直豎。而 Jalas 是用溫暖的銅管群在後頭緩緩推動是歌詠著對這一片大塊山水的壯麗， 令人深感他對 Sibelius 作品的厚愛。

Jussi Jalas (June 23, 1908 – October 11, 1985) was a Finnish conductor and composer.

Jussi Jalas 是西貝流士的女婿，愛屋及烏之下也成了 西貝流士 音樂的專家， 替 DECCA 公司錄製了SIBELIUS 作品共4張 LP，已有CD問市。

1月17日早上吃 士記燒餅油條煎蛋和熱狗

1月17 日我睡了比較脕，似乎台北沒完了，台灣也沒完了。當務之急是去 士記 買燒餅油條煎蛋，晚了怕吃不到了。

今天士記生意很好人超多了，但老士馬上就替我作。

老士又高興向我説 " 這些年靑人真是太棒了 " 。

我不知如何回答，只得説 " 對 !  "。

老士 揮手向我説再見，我急著回家趁熱吃，看了一下蛋煎得恰到好處。不過新點 "燒餅熱狗 " 比預期的美味。

似乎台北沒完了，台灣也沒完了，1月17日早上有些改變真好，我吃士記燒餅油條煎蛋和熱狗。
